Terms of Service

Effective date: August 21, 2026
CookieMop is a browser extension you run yourself. It is free, and Pro is an optional one-time purchase that adds two features.

1. What you are getting

CookieMop is a Chrome extension that deletes cookies and site data for sites you visit once you close their tabs, except for sites you whitelist. It runs entirely inside your browser. There is no account, no hosted service, and nothing of yours is stored on our side.

The extension is free. CookieMop Pro is an optional one-time purchase of $9.99 USD that unlocks two additional features: rule profiles and the per-cookie whitelist. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.

2. Your licence

Buying Pro grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Pro features on browsers you personally use, for as long as you like. It does not expire.

Your licence key is a signed value verified on your own device. Please do not publish it, share it or resell it. Doing so does not break anything on our end, but it is the one thing we ask of you in return for not building any anti-piracy machinery into a privacy tool.

3. Delivery

Delivery is immediate and automatic. After payment you are sent to a page where your licence key is produced on the spot, and it is also retrievable at any time from the licence page using the email address and order number from your receipt. No part of fulfilment is performed by hand, and nothing is delivered later.

4. Refunds

30 days, no questions asked. See the refund policy.

5. The free version stays free

Every feature that is free at the time you install CookieMop will remain free. We will not move an existing free feature behind a payment. Pro only ever adds.

6. Open source

CookieMop's source is published under the MIT licence at github.com/thoopring/cookiemop. The MIT licence governs the code itself. These terms govern the Pro licence you purchase, which is a separate thing from the source code.

7. What we do not promise

CookieMop is provided as is. It deletes cookies and site data — that is the point — and once deleted they cannot be recovered. Configure your whitelist before relying on it, and understand that logging out of sites is the intended behaviour, not a fault.

We cannot promise the extension is free of defects, nor that it will keep working unchanged if Chrome alters its extension APIs. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us — at most $9.99.

Known limitations are listed openly in the README rather than buried here.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use CookieMop to break the law, and do not redistribute it as your own product. Beyond that, it is a cookie cleaner; there is not much to misuse.

9. Payments

Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, who act as merchant of record and are the seller for tax purposes. Their terms apply to the transaction itself. We never see or store your card details.

10. Changes

If these terms change, the updated version is posted at this address with a new effective date. A change never applies retroactively to a purchase already made.
